The mountain gate is the front door a temple. Temples used to be constructed in the deep of mountain forest, far away from the rural city, thus getting the name "mountain gate". Even though temples are now situated in cities and flat grounds, the name remains.

The Gate of Emptiness, situated in the middle of the mountain gate, adopted from the saying that all four elements that make up everything are essentially comprised of emptiness. The Gate of Non-action is on the right, meaning to do no evil. The Gate of Signlessness is on the left, meaning to be unprejudiced.

The temple’s mountain gate is just on the AnYuan road, combined with Heavenly King Hall, which is the first hall of the Jade Buddha Zen temple. It faces the city road, dividing the monastic and the secular.
